Neuromuscular Massage/ Trigger Point Massage

Neuromuscular massage is used for chronic and acute pain. This modality primarily uses deep tissue and trigger point massage techniques to release tight areas within a muscle that commonly refer pain to a nearby area. One of the most common examples of this is a trigger point in the upper trap (top of the shoulder) that commonly refers pain up the back of the neck and into the head. This trigger point is often a major contributor to chronic headaches.

Piriformis syndrome is another common issue that can be treated with trigger point therapy. The piriformis muscle located in the posterior hip becomes tight and entraps the sciatic nerve which can cause pain anywhere from the low back down to the lower leg and foot. This is similar to sciatica and produces the same pain pattern along the nerve but with sciatica the primary cause is in the spine instead of the piriformis muscle.

These are just a couple of the more common issues that we see but there are many more well established trigger points that may occur in the body.  Kevin has been a certified neuromuscular therapist for over 7 years has helped hundreds of clients with all kinds of issues like neck and shoulder pain, low back and sciatic nerve issues, tennis/golfers elbow, headaches and much more.
